Prostate Cancer First Signs and Treatments

Prostate Cancer First Signs and Treatments

Most men are concerns about their risk for prostate cancer, so it’s important to understand the basics of the disease, as well as the prostate cancer risk factors And treatments.

What is Prastate Cancer

Prostate Cancer is a small gland in the male reproductive system, located under the bladder. It’s essential in producing fluid that enriches semen, but it may cause issues as men age. When cells in the prostate begin to grow out of control, prostate cancer can develop.

Prostate cancer may cause symptoms affecting urination and sexual activity due to the prostate gland's proximity to the bladder and urethra the tube that delivers semen and urine from the body, which passes through the middle of the prostate.

Some symptoms of prostate cancer can be different for each man, and any one of these symptoms may be caused by other conditions such as an enlarged prostate, prostatitis or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

• Patients may want to think about taking part in a clinical trial.

• Patients can enter clinical trials before, during, or after starting their cancer treatment.

• Follow-up tests may be needed.

Different types of treatment are available for patients with prostate cancer. Some treatments are standard (the currently used treatment), and some are being tested in clinical trials. A treatment clinical trial is a research study meant to help improve current treatments or obtain information on new treatments for patients with cancer. When clinical trials show that a new treatment is better than the standard treatment, the new treatment may become the standard treatment. Patients may want to think about taking part in a clinical trial. Some clinical trials are open only to patients who have not started treatment.
