A hot-air balloon carrying 22 people caught fire mid‑air and crashed in Brazil during the early morning hours on 21 Jun 2025, leaving 8 people dead and 13 injured.
Reports confirm at least eight fatalities and thirteen survivors, some injured and hospitalized. The incident involved 21 passengers, including the pilot, when the balloon caught fire and crashed in Praia Grande, Santa Catarina.
Survivors jumped from the hot air balloon when it was low to the ground on air bags, as the pilot instructed after a fire started.
