A woman who says she is HIV-positive has alleged that she was raped while at her house last Friday.
The 23-year-old woman, Jane*, from the county of Middlesex, believes that the
poor state of her house allowed her attacker to gain easy access to her.
"Last Friday, someone come in and rape mi. My boyfriend took out the windows
to the house and is like the person saw when he was going away and come in and
rape mi," the woman told THE WEEKEND STAR yesterday.
"Mi report it to the police and dem carry mi to di hospital and mi get

That was just the latest in a series of tragic incidents that have plagued the
woman who dreams of becoming an educator. In addition to contracting HIV at
birth, Jane was also diagnosed with a mental illness for which she is taking
medication.
Jane said that she ended up on her own after she was booted from the family
dwelling because of her messiness.
"I lived in a big yard and dem say I keep up there untidy. Mi nuh really tidy
so dem make mi come live by myself," she said.
"Mi live with mi boyfriend but him nah take care of the house neither," she
admitted.
The mother of a four-year-old, Jane said that they live in a dilapidated
one-bedroom dwelling. She said that in addition to being targeted by persons
like the brute who raped her, she fears being left to the mercy of the
elements if Jamaica is hit by a weather system.
