Mexico Mayor Found Dead, a Week After Taking Office 

The mayor of Mexico was found dead in less than a week after taking office.

Alejandro Arcos Catalan, the newly mayor was found dead on Sunday in Chilpancingo, a city of around 280,000 people in the southwestern state of Guerrero. He had been mayor for six days.

Authorities said Sunday, the latest in a series of attacks on politicians in the violence plagued Latin American country.

His decapitated body was discovered in his pickup truck, highlighted the serve violence in the region.

Reuters reported that photos circulating on WhatsApp showed a severed head on top of what appeared to be Catalan, vehicle, but the news agency could not independently verify the photos' authenticity.

The incident has deeply affected the community and raise concern about the safety of the public officials in Europe played by drugs related violence.
